What documents are accepted as client’s Proof of Identity and Proof of address?

To verify your Client account, we will need you to provide us with the Client's Proof of identity and Proof of address, as required by regulation. Please check the below acceptance criteria.

Protection of the personal data

All the documents you provide will be handled with the utmost confidentiality in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and solely for the purpose of complying with our regulatory obligations regarding know-your-client (KYC) requirements.

Conditions of acceptability

Before sending us your Client’s documents, here are some instructions:

  • The documents must be in the Client's name;

  • All documents must be provided in full (all four corners visible including laminated parts, which are parts important to the security verification of the document).

  • Documents can be PDFs, photos or screenshots. Please note that these must be of good quality and in colour so that we can decipher the document. Please be aware that Shares can only accept valid, non-expired documents.;

  • Please note that the Proof of identity of the Client will have to be presented to you physically. We do not enable remote onboarding between the Wealth Managers and his Clients.

What Proof of Identity documents do we accept?

Document Type

Details

Passport

  • Issued by any country.

  • Must be valid.

French Driving Licence

  • Only the modern card type.

  • Must be valid.

ID Card

  • Issued by an EEA Country (27 countries of the EU and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).

  • Issued by Switzerland.

  • Including Belgian eCARD.

  • Shares cannot accept National Identity cards issued outside the EEA/Swiss, as well as UK IDs.

  • Must be valid (including French IDs issued before January 1, 2014, whose validity has been extended from 10 years to 15 years).

Residence permit

“Titre de séjour” or “Carte de résident” issued in France, possibly accompanied by a receipt if your document is in the process of being renewed.

What Proof of Address documents are accepted?

Utility Bill or Contract

  • Gas, electricity, water, landline/mobile phone, internet/TV, etc.

  • Containing the full name and address of the client.

  • Must be issued within the last 3 months.

Rent Receipt or Residential Lease Agreement

  • Must be issued within the last 3 months.

House insurance

  • Insurance certification for residents.

  • Non-Occupant Property Owner (PNO) insurance certificates will not be accepted.

Property Tax

  • Only if the property subject to the property tax is the client’s primary residence.

Tax Return / Tax Assessment

  • Only if the address shown on the document is still the client's current residence.
