All you need to know about the FX rate impact and the way it affects your investments at Shares

Trading US stocks

Here at Shares, you have access to a wide range of US stocks from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the NASDAQ*. As both these exchanges are from the United States of America, these US stocks can be purchased only with USD (US Dollar).

Since we operate in selected European Union countries, we provide our users access to purchase these stocks with EUR. When we execute an order for US stocks that you placed with EUR, we convert your funds to USD and purchase the stock you have placed an order for. When you sell a stock, we receive your funds in USD, which we convert to EUR and send to your Shares account.

Please note that the foreign exchange rate (FX rate) for converting your EUR to USD or vice versa is subject to changing market conditions. As the foreign currencies market is also subject to volatility, it can impact your investments positively or negatively, solely depending on the markets.

Trading EU stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies

We also offer various equities (stocks and ETFs) listed on some of the biggest European stock exchanges, as well as numerous cryptocurrencies*. Both the EU equities, and cryptocurrencies offered in our app are traded in EUR, so the FX rate doesn’t have any impact on your investments in these assets.

*The availability of trading different assets depends on the country you’re registering from and can be checked in our article here: Countries currently supported.
