All you need to know about Business accounts in the Shares App

Updated over 2 months ago

*Available in France only.

Opening a Shares Business account allows you to invest the funds of your company in stocks, ETFs and crypto via the Shares app. You can create a business account if you are a director of a company registered in France – simply tap “Sign up” and choose business as the type of account you want to create.

If you already have a personal account with Shares, you can access the Sign-up flow by tapping the “Log out” button in your Profile. You can use the same phone number and email address for both of your Shares accounts.

Which companies can open a Business account?

Currently we enable this option for companies registered in France, under entity types:

  • SARL - Société à Responsabilité Limitée,

  • SAS - Société Par Actions Simplifiée,

  • SASU - Société par Actions Simplifiées Unipersonnelle,

  • EURL - Entrepmdrrise Unipersonnelle à Responsabilité Limitée.

What are the key differences between a Personal and a Business account?

  • Creating the account - while a Personal account can be opened by any user of legal age from one of the countries we support (check all the supported countries in our article: Countries currently supported), a Business account can be only opened by a French resident, who is a director of a company under selected entity types, listed above. Learn more about the documents required to open a Business account in our article: Verifying your Business account: required steps.

  • Using the account - a Personal account is opened and used solely in your own name. A Business account is also opened and operated in your name, however, you are acting as a representative of your company. Please keep in mind that a company can have only one active account in the Shares App, and for now only the director who opened the account for the company can use the account (i.e. other directors or employees of the company cannot have access to the account).

  • Investing funds - when you use a Personal account, you can invest your own funds. When using a Business account, you can invest the funds of your company in our app (i.e. make deposits and withdrawals using your company’s bank account or debit card).

What app features are available for Business users?

As a verified Business user you can invest in a variety of EU and US stocks, as well as ETFs and Crypto assets. Check all the order types available in our app in our article here: What are the different order types available in Shares?.

You can also follow the activity of other investors and exchange ideas on our Social feed or by messaging other members. Check the articles in our collection: Connecting with other investors, to learn more about managing connections at Shares.
